My Love, Don't Cross That River 2014
Plot Synopsis
Bringing in over 4.8 million admissions at the Korean box office, My Love, Don't Cross That River broke Korea's all-time record for independent and documentary films with the heartrending image of an elderly couple wearing matching traditional hanbok clothing and holding hands firmly in the final days of a marriage that spanned over seven decades. Inspired to shoot his own film after watching a TV documentary on the nonagenarian lovebirds, director Jin Mo-young records the couple's tranquil lives in a mountain village, capturing both the simple joy of their playful interactions and the deep grief of loss when the husband succumbs to illness.
